Well suck on this stingy tart fact:<\/p>\n
1 in 5 female college students will be sexually assaulted while at college. No, that’s not a typo. 20%.<\/p>\n
How often would you play the lottery if your chances of winning were 1 in 5? That’s not a small percentage.<\/p>\n
Are you shaking your head? Is your mouth hanging open like mine is and are you too shocked to even\u00a0release a real scream? Is it kept down by terror because someone you know or love is in college or will be or has been? Are you remembering your own college experience?<\/p>\n
What\u00a0is being taught when\u00a0a 20% chance of sexual assault is part of the\u00a0price to\u00a0pay for pursuing a\u00a0higher education?<\/p>\n
When are we going to be\u00a0intolerant to sexual violence? When will it be more shameful to violate and abuse than it is to admit to being violated and abused?\u00a0We aren’t there yet.<\/p>\n
20% is an insanely large number. That’s too much lemonade to ask a college student to make when she should be studying, taking dance classes and learning about the world. Can we make it so that sexual violence isn’t a part of\u00a0the\u00a0life orientation for so many?<\/p>\n
It’s wonderful that we have lemonade makers like Corbett Moran.\u00a0But shouldn’t some of those\u00a0people who making lemonade making necessary go fix up their own ingredients?<\/p>\n
