Sorry I didn’t response sooner.
For me, free-writing, where I don’t pick the pen up (or lift my keys off the keyboard) is basically how I start. I don’t care where it will go and just write and write and write for ten to fifteen minutes.
Sometimes, in that writing, I’m letting go of worrying about bills or things on my to-do list or just venting or noticing something. But it always leads to some nugget that is worth exploring more and that gives me the seed of an idea.
The other totally non-related thing is that if I do yoga, or body work, it ALWAYS gives me lots of ideas (so much so that it’s hard to not stop the yoga). That can help as well. You can do fifteen minutes in your home or a downward dog stretch and a child’s pose. It doesn’t have to be a long sequence. I think sometimes that I am literally getting a new perspective just by getting my head upside down.
I hope that helps and thanks for visiting and commenting!

like to ask if you don’t mind. I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before writing.

I have had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my ideas out there.
I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just
seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost simply jusxt trying
to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions oor hints? Kudos!
