I’m so sorry it took me so long to respond. My pace is now very VERY SLOW. But I’m finally able to walk again so we can do a walkie talkie somewhere with our dogs! I can’t do the mountains you hike yet, but I can do some hills! Cis

Dear Patty:
What a beautiful message! I’m SO GLAD my words have the impact you describe. That’s exactly my hope and I’m glad you don’t have to be living with cancer at the moment to get something from the writing. That also makes me happy. I look forward to reading your writing (thank you for sharing it). And thank you for your warmth, and care, and I hope you, me, and Beth get to sit around and have coffee and blab again! Warmly, Cissy

There is so much in my heart to say and the words aren’t big enough…your words are a necklace of hope and courage hanging around my neck to remind me to treasure every minute no matter what…I just sent you some writing I did about courage which as I wrote it made me think, “this is dedicated to Cissy.” It’s not about cancer or the impact of child abuse, its about how writing heals trauma from an unexpected source: Ray Bradbury–that old guy who wrote Dandelion Wine and Fahrenheit 451 and a ton of short stories cuz he didn’t really like novels. Hahaha. I can’t write novels either.
Know I carry you in my heart, even after years and miles apart. Your words remind me when I feel isolation and alone, that I’m not. You and other friends are in fact always with me. You are as precious as the Dalai Lama in my world, frankly, better! He’s a little too Zen and you are just perfect.
Hugs and love from Seattle to Boston.

Your writing is so raw and yet refined. It makes me weep. I love you and I want to see you! Please let me know when is good and I will race down – even if only for an hour visit. XOXO
